Every time you get to one of the places where there is a lake, look up at the top line of trees- eventually you will find a little grey thing that looks like a malformed rock- it's actually an egg. Walk over to it and press A while looking at it (make sure you aren't holding any tools). Text will come up saying something like "If you don't take it, the wild animals will eat it," anyway, select "yes" when it asks if you want to pick it up. You will now have an egg with a question-mark on it in the bottom right hand corner square of your tool screen.
