They occupy two adjacent inventory slots when carrying it around, with hex codes xxyy0100 and xxyy0200 (the two yy are decremented together to maintain the same value). When lying in the chest, they occupy a single slot and use hex code xxyy0300. Notes: * Not all items are valid for every player. For example, Claire cannot equip the Custom Shotgun. It is OK for her to has it in the inventory, but when you try to equip the weapon, RE2 crashes. * If the second byte of the hex code is shown as ## in the table above, it is a binary number representing the number of copies of that item you possess. If the second byte is shown as %%, it is a percentage of the ammo loaded. For weapons, the count represents the amount of ammo left. * Remember that you need to empty a weapon before you can combine it with something (Shotgun Parts, Flame Rounds, etc). Many weapons use a count of FF to mean infinite. In those cases, you can never empty that weapon to switch ammo. * An empty Handgun can be combined with Handgun Parts to become the Custom Handgun that fire rapidly. Similarly, Shotgun and Magnum can be combined with their corresponding Parts to Custom weapons for improved power. * Like RE1, you have many house keys. This time, they are all called Precinct Keys, each with a different shape. Check the key to find out which key (Spade, Heart, Diamond, Club) it is. For keys, the ## count reflects how many times you need/can use it. Each time you use the key, the count is decremented. When the count reaches zero, you are asked whether you want to discard the key. * With the Special Key, you can open the locker in the West Wing 1/F Store Room (just outside the Dark Room) to change the outfit. Other useful locations in Saved Games Other useful locations: location (hex) Meaning 0200 - 0201 Seconds elapsed since start of game (two-byte binary format, low byte first) 0220 Number of games saved The six bytes from 037E to 0383 changes from time to time. If you can figure out what they mean, kindly let me know! Outstanding questions Kindly let me know if you have answer to any of the followings: * The three pairs of double-bytes from 037E to 0383 changes from time to time. * How can I tell a Leon saved game from a Claire game? * How can I tell an A game from a B game? * How can I tell whether the player has acquired the expansion pack and therefore has 8 available slot instead of 6? y Other Resident Evil 2 cheats hints faqs solutions: 2.
