This time to help vanquish the scary denizens of the dark and stormy night. The game begins with Sam watching his favorite cartoon, Pajama Man, and putting together a jigsaw puzzle. A huge booming clap of thunder startles Sam so much he flings puzzle pieces everywhere! He decides it's time to confront the weather makers and become Pajama Sam, intrepid foe of childhood fears. He needs to find his cape first, then "storm" the weather factory and make them knock off all that loud scary stuff. When Sam first arrives at the weather factory he accidentally causes a small disaster in the control room which disables the weather machines, but true to form he vows to put things right! And he just might find all the puzzle pieces he lost, too. Click below to see each of the weather machines, meet the characters Sam will encounter along the way, see the list of machine parts he's looking for, the items he might need in his quest to right the wrongs and much, much more! Looking for Click-Points Looking for Click Points Sam's world is full of all sorts of objects which spring to life at your command. Send them into action with a simple click of the mouse, then watch the fun and surprises unfold! Try clicking objects more than once too. Many click points have multiple actions associated with them so click several times. Also, keep your eye out for extras, like Sam singing his version of the song YMCA when he's got the hard hat on. You'll have to wait a moment after he's put it on but you won't be sorry! Items Sam Needs to Find When Sam trips and falls against the control panel he causes some minor damage to each of the weather machines. He's trying to be helpful by finding the missing machine parts and returning them to the machines where they belong. Automated Snowflake Inspector: A mechanical device whose job it is to inspect each snowflake for uniqueness. He feels as though the hard work he does goes unappreciated (his supervisor, Langston, gets all the credit) and he runs away when he gets to feeling bad about it. This happens so often that there is a special piece of equipment designed solely to track him down. Velocimomometer ("Velo"): The part of the Wind Machine which monitors and controls fan speed. Velo is meek and gets lost easily. He's wandered off the factory floor and Sam needs to find him soon! Wingnut: A tiny wingnut who's part of the Sun Machine, attaching the alignment bar to the solar collection dish. He's a bit of a loudmouth and thinks the Sun machine couldn't possibly run without him, which is partly true. Y-Pipe: A Y-shaped piece of pipe through which two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen are combined in the Rain Machine to make water. Without the Y-pipe there won't be any rain and without rain there won't be any plants so Sam needs to find him quickly. Game Paths As with most Humongous Entertainment Junior Adventures there is a random element to Pajama Sam in Thunder and Lightning Aren't So Frightening. This means you will play the game once through to the end and the next time you visit you'll have a different puzzle to solve! We call these game paths. The game path will be randomly determined when the game begins, but this won't change until you've played the game to its conclusion. Depending on which path you're playing some of the puzzles will not be available, so some of the locations, items, clues, etc. will not appear or may not be of use to Sam. Remember to explore everywhere and just keep clicking on everything you see! No matter what path you're playing in Thunder and Lightning Aren't So Frightening Sam needs to find the same four machine parts but the items he needs to use or the characters he needs to interact with will change. Automated Snowflake Inspector To find the Inspector you'll first need to find SID, the Snowflake Inspector Detector. SID is fairly easy to find. You'll stumble across him as you explore the weather factory. But SID is out of energy and needs some pepping up! Once you've recharged SID he'll tag along in the inventory at the bottom of the screen. Click on him as you move around World Wide Weather and he'll give you clues to the Inspector's whereabouts. When you're in the right place move SID around until his light beeps and you've found the Inspector! The Snowflake Inspector will be in one of four places depending on the game path: H20 bottle packing area or the first floor warehouse area or the executive washroom: The Inspector will be hiding in one of these areas and even when Sam and SID find him he's not inclined to return to work. He's feeling down but a little bit of recognition just might turn the tide. Rooftop: If the Inspector is on the rooftop he's got a problem! Sam will have to take care of the dust devil and that's no easy task. Velocimomometer ("Velo") You should be looking for Velo's cord. It's a little like a tail, sort of dragging behind him, wiggling now and then. Velo will be in one of two places depending on the game path: Basement: If Velo is in the basement of the warehouse you'll have to use the computer in the mailroom on the second floor to move the boxes. Restack them so Sam can climb up to reach Velo. Executive Washroom: If Velo is in the executive washroom things will be a little complicated. There are a couple conditional puzzles you'll have to solve before you can get to him. First, you'll have to get The Carrot. Langston will be very happy indeed with a new nose! Once you've done that you'll need to go to the board room and answer some questions to get a seat on the Board --you'll need The Carrot for this. When you've done that you can take the key to the executive washroom, leave The Carrot to make the changes in working conditions he's been talking about, and go rescue Velo! Wingnut To find Wingnut you'll have to be very observant. One of the places he could be hiding won't be obvious and you'll have to click on everything to uncover him. Wingnut will be in one of two places depending on the game path: Grate drain: The grate drain is near one of the components of the Sun machine. Click on it and if Wingnut is down there he'll call out to Sam. You'll need to remove the grate cover before Sam can get in there but then you'll find Sam is too big. Once you've solved that problem Sam will drop down the hole and you'll need to help guide him through the maze of pipes to get to Wingnut. When Sam reaches the top of the drain pipe with Wingnut you'll find he's too small to replace Wingnut. Resize Sam again and you can go repair that Sun machine! Water mixer: If Wingnut is in the water mixer the fix will be a little more complicated. You'll need to find a rubber bandBand to replace the broken one. Once you've done that Wingnut will find himself in a bottle and Sam will have to find a way to get him out so you can restore him to his place on the Sun machine. Y-Pipe The Y-Pipe is a playful little fella but his playfulness has gotten him into a bit of trouble this time. Although one of the spots he may be in is fairly visible the other is not. The Y-Pipe will be in one of two places depending on the game path: The lunchroom: If the Y-Pipe is stuck in the vending machine Sam will need some coins to get him out. Unfortunately, because he's a wide shape, the Y-Pipe gets wedged on the way out of the vending machine and needs some help getting loose. Employee Lockers: If the Y-Pipe is hiding in the employee lockers Sam will have quite a task ahead of him. Since the lockers are obscured, you'll need to find something to turn the fan so it will blow the fog away. Once you've done that you'll find a combination type padlock on the locker. Luckily, one of the nearby lockers is helpful enough to tell Sam what he believes the combination to be. Finding that information will be a whole new quest for Sam! The Mini-Games Pajama Sam in Thunder and Lightning Aren't so Frightening contains nine mini- games that provide loads of entertainment all by themselves. While playing the mini-games isn't always necessary to finish the game they are a lot of fun, so give 'em a try! Employee Quiz This employee quiz is a series of brain teaser questions the Chairman of the Board and the Board Members have put together to test the intellectual agility of WWW employees, and to find another board member. Although you can play it any time you like sometimes it might be necessary to answer the questions correctly to rescue one of the machine parts. If that's the case you may need help figuring out the answers. Click on one of the folded pieces of paper in the hat and Sam will read the question. Once he's done look at the list of answers. Click on the answer you think is correct and the Chairman will tell you if you're right. If you're wrong he'll tell you the correct answer and you'll get a chance to choose another question. When you want to stop playing click the arrow in the upper left corner. Copyright 1998 Humongous Entertainment Courtesy Phone This is the courtesy phone found in the lobby outside the control room of World Wide Weather. He's pretty handy for making an appointment to access the offices of WWW but you can also dial numbers at random and hear some funny stuff. Grate Drain Maze This is the maze of drainpipes Sam finds when he pops the grate near the Sun machine to help Wingnut escape. Sam must crawl through the pipes to get to Wingnut and then help him out before they can fix the Sun machine. To help Sam find his way, look for the pipe openings with the flashing white outline. When more than one is highlighted you'll really have to concentrate --only one is right! When Sam reaches Wingnut he'll pick him up and crawl back out without any assistance from you. Pajamaman Puzzle This is where Sam keeps all the puzzle pieces he finds during his adventure. You can use them to put together a picture. The picture changes each time you play.Click on a puzzle piece and then click on a space on the board to place it. You'll notice that the shape of the puzzle pieces match outlines on the board. This should make it easier for little ones to place pieces. If you click in the wrong place the piece will not release from the cursor. When you click in the right spot the piece will slip into place. If you want to pick up a different piece, before placing the one on the cursor, just click anywhere outside the puzzle grid and the piece on the cursor will pop back to its square. The puzzle is not necessary to complete the game but adds to the fun and learning! Click the arrow in the upper corner to return to the game. Rooftop Telescope This is pure fun! Move the viewing glasses with the four directional arrows and find the Pajama Man comic books. The number counter indicates how many you're looking for.The books are scattered throughout the screen. Some are hidden so look carefully. When you see one click on it and it will float up with a flashing sunburst behind it and the number counter will decrease by one. The lower left radar screen shows the location of the items you've found with green dots. The box outline indicates what part of the screen you're looking at. Use the arrows to move that box to the area you want to look at. There are lots of extras here too. Click everything you see because some of these click points are hilarious! Click the arrow in the upper corner to return to the game. Shipping and Receiving Computer This computer is used for stacking the boxes in the basement of the warehouse and sure comes in handy when Sam needs to use those boxes to rescue one of the machine parts. The columns indicate how the boxes are currently stacked. Click on the plus or minus sign at the bottom of each stack to add or remove boxes from each column. To see your handiwork take the elevator down to the basement. You can do this just for fun but you may need to create a specific pattern for Sam to use. Take the elevator back to the mail room to re-stack the boxes as often as you like or until you get it right! Click the arrow in the upper corner to return to the game. Flaker Maker This is just for kicks! Click on the computer screen under the conveyor belt behind Langston and you'll be in the shape making portion of the Flaker Maker! The top left button will fold your paper and the next button down will unfold it. Click the unfold button and choose the shape of paper you want from the three buttons on the right. Click the fold button to fold it up again and then choose a shape from the buttons at the bottom of the screen to cut out patterns on the folded paper. Click on the folded paper where you want a cut out to appear. If you click and drag your mouse you can repeat the pattern across the paper for some really great effects! If you don't like the pattern you've made click on the pencil eraser button and you can start all over. The button at the far right of the shape buttons will rotate the active shape in it's opposite direction. For instance, the triangle will point down instead of up. Once you're done cutting shapes click the unfold button to see the design you made. Refold the paper to continue designing or, if you have a printer, you can print it out to share with friends or to color! To do that, just click on the printer icon. Click the arrow in the upper corner to return to the game. Test Room This is the test room control panel. You can grow the fruits and vegetables you see at the bottom of the screen (and more) by following the recipes. Scroll through the recipes (with the purple arrows) to see what else you can grow and what ingredients you need. Then click on the appropriate objects on the right to produce your item. For instance, if you want to grow an apple tree you'll need to click on four suns and four clouds. You'll also need to click on the apple seed packet at the bottom right of the panel screen. Then click the Go button and watch the test room apparatus go to work. Depending on the game path Sam may need one of the items you can create in the test room or you can scroll through the recipe book and put the machine through its paces just for kicks and giggles! Weather Board When you click on the computer icon in the inventory you'll see several buttons. One of them is the Fun button. When you click on this button you'll be ported to the Weather Board mini-game. To play, choose your game pieces and click on the spinner. Move one game piece to the color indicated by the spinner and wait for the computer to take its turn. The object is to get all your pieces into the matching weather picture in the middle of the board. For instance, if you pick the umbrellas you want to get them around the board to the rain picture. It may be easier to note the color arrow you begin on. Then you'll know where you need to go by looking at the color of the circle under the weather pictures in the middle of the board. If you start on the yellow arrow, you finish on the yellow circle. Watch out for the other game pieces! When they move onto a square where your piece is sitting they'll bump your piece right off the board and you'll have to start that piece all over again! But, if you land on a square where one of your pieces is sitting that piece will move ahead one square. When you're done playing click the arrow in the upper corner. If you haven't finished the game Sam will appear and ask you if you're sure you want to leave. Click Yes to exit and No to remain in the game.
