From the castle entrance, go to the hallway of the first save room (before level level selection room). There are 3 candles there, this is important for the hint, DO NOT destroy the second or third candle. There are a few shadows on the floor between the candles that look like bars, stand on the FIRST "bar" between the second and third candles. Press the start button to bring up the main menu, and select items. Whatever items you have will increase as you highlight them to the max of nine (or 5 if your playing crazy mode).
