When you're making a drum riff or whatever, and you want two sounds at the same time, it won't let you. So, you have to make it bigger. Exit to the song screen and select the riff. It will say a bunch of things, but choose Resize Riff. Then make it bigger Vertically. Once you go back to the Riff screen, press L2 to choose which "level" you want to use.
